  1. National Black Storytellers: Tellin' It Our Way

    The National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS) kicks off its week-long 36th Annual National Black Storytelling Festival at The Cary Theater.

    This FREE family concert features national storytellers who will tell tales that titillate the senses, liven the soul to laughter, honor our rich heritage and embolden our voice. Join us for enthusiastic, engaging and empowering stories where minds become mesmerized, feet get to stomping, hands commence to clapping and voices joyously raise to respond.

     

    Featured tellers are:

    The Storytellers’ Storyteller BABA JAMAL KORAM, Alexandria, VA

    Lively Tale-Teller LINDA GORHAM, Cary, NC

    Vivacious Grio’ VANORA LEGAUX, New Orleans, LA

    U.S. Storytelling Treasure MITCH CAPEL, Southern Pines, NC

    Highly Animated DONNA WASHINGTON, Durham, NC

    Quintessential Engager QUEEN NUR, Willingboro, NJ

    Witty Wonder WILLA BRIGHAM, Cary, NC

     

    Collectively these storytellers have toured throughout 50 states, as well as African, Asian, South American and European countries. Through the NABS Adopt-A-Teller Program (AATP) over 40 free community and school performances will be held throughout the Research Triangle from October 29 to November 4.
