See the 7-time Academy Award-winning film that christened a new generation of war cinema: the “coming home” movie. Three World War II veterans return home to small-town America to discover they and their families have been irreparably changed as they re-enter civilian life. Fred (Dana Andrews) is a war hero who, unable to compete with more highly skilled workers, must return to his low-wage soda jerk job. Bank executive Al (Fredric March) gets into trouble for offering favorable loans to veterans. After losing both hands in the war, Homer (Harold Russell) returns to his loving fiancée, but struggles to adjust. Produced by Samuel Goldwyn, this is among the best films ever made and honored by the National Film Registry.
A Q&A with a special panel of war heroes follows this matinee. If you’re a veteran and you’d like to participate on our panel, contact: Joy Ennis, (919) 462-2054.

What’s it really like to have cancer as a teenager? A survivor travels to all 50 states to uncover the stories of others who’ve also been diagnosed with cancer in their youth. This special screening includes filmmaker and cancer survivor Hernan Barangan, who’s traveled the country interviewing teen survivors, including some in Wake County.
Barangan’s intimate and cinematic documentary CANCER REBELLION brings to light the hidden life of modern day teens who’ve been diagnosed with cancer. This film explores their dreams, struggles and fears with a lens that only a fellow cancer survivor can bring. At 15, Hernan was in their shoes. In an effort to exorcise his own cancer demons, he takes to the road to map out the path that young cancer patients travel from diagnosis to aftermath. His documentary was produced in cooperation with Teen Cancer America founders Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who.

OdysseyStage Theatre teams up with Cary Playwrights’ Forum to present a 2nd-annual festival of ten-minute plays this summer: NC 10 by 10. Each group is producing five of the plays, with all ten being shown at each performance.
The festival patterns itself on the popular 10 by 10 in the Triangle that ran at The ArtsCenter from 2001 to 2016. We sent out a call to all the playwrights in North Carolina and selected the best 10 minute plays amongst our entrants.  10 different directors are each taking on one of the 10 scripts, with the shows being cast separately by each theatre company. Several actors will play multiple roles which include everything from a Genie in a bottle to Don Quixote to Henry VIII to a mysterious woman of Fortune.
The NC 10by10: It’s the most Bang for your Buck you’ll get all summer!
PG-13. Some plays feature adult language and content.
For assistance with accessible seating requests at The Cary Theater after 3pm on Friday and throughout the weekend, please contact the general box office at 919-462-2055, and/or reach out to the House Manager beginning one hour prior to the performance.
Will call tickets may be picked up at The Cary Theater box office beginning 1-hour before the show.
